weeks have worsened the flood situation of Kurigram district. People of the
flood-affected areas are now in great distress. They have lost their dwellings,
their crops, and their properties. They are now living at the mercy of the
nearby people, who are not affected. Some are taking shelter in the high roads,
schools, and colleges. Since the people have lost their belongings, they
famish in their shelters. The elders are trying to tolerate their hunger but
the children are sufferings most. They are crying for food. In addition, some
children have been attacked with water-borne diseases including other diseases.
The old people are also attacked by various diseases. It is very unhappy to hear that two children
and an old woman have already died in his devastating flood. In such a
miserable situation Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina came to visit the flood-affected villages of
Patuakhali district yesterday, at about 3:00 p.m. She distributed relief goods
and several lakhs of cash money among the victims. She also assured the people
that all types of machinery 01 the govt. will stand by them in their distress.
